A partnership is not stationary. Over time a partnership has to change. But, how does a partnership change, and how does an organization evaluate its individual development over time and its relationship within a group throughout the years?

The NNER is unique because it forges several types of simultaneous relationships that its members define as partnerships. It creates a tripartite between the faculty in the schools, the colleges of education and the colleges of arts and sciences. It forges a partnership between the members of the national settings, and ultimately, it creates a relationship between the branches of the NNER and the greater community.
These relationships are not always equal. Nor are they always balanced. But they are built on a mutual respect and a shared and common set of goals. The mission of the NNER cannot work without our partnerships.

So, one must question, how does a partnership remain effective? This panel hopes to address one aspect of this question through the process of self-examination? Montclair State hopes to examine itself with the assistance of its critical friends (allies in the NNER).

From its origins as a member of the NNER, Montclair State's relationship with its partner schools, the NNER, and itself has evolved. And, it will and must keep evolving. This presentation will examine the process from of partnering from three differing lenses: 1) the evolution of a teacher's college to a multi-purpose university to a Carnegie R-3/Research University; 2) the transformation of the New Jersey Network for Educational Renewal (a model supported with several professional development schools) to the Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal (a more robust network striving for forty school districts); and 3) a senior national setting of the NNER.
The presentation will consist of members of the tripartite, administrators, faculty, and staff, that represent each era of the network's development.
